nearly one-hundred releases have passed since proc-records last
saw "Sick To The Back Teeth", and even then it was only
on the compilation release taking place at that time, [proc150].
Since he first debuted with proc-rec, I have had profound
respect for this gentleman's capabilities as a sound artist.
complex sounds arranged in what seem to be no
particular order slowly fuze together and form impressive
pieces of sound.

[proc248] is Sick To The Back Teeth's very first
non-compilation with us, and because of this special
event, I am honored to have such an amazing oppurtunity
like this to review some wonderfully remixed material.

Taking source audio of various tracks from artists like
Sonic Youth and Skullflower, STTBT has truly done something
impressive on this ep.
Though I am vaguely familiar with the artists, I am not
quite familiar with their work.
Hence, these pieces are difficult for me to compare with
the originals.
HOWEVER, knowing the strength of STTBT in sound,
I can honestly say that these versions
are much more enjoyable!
The rich textures and spurratic explosive effects which saturate the
four tracks that make up this ep are simply astounding and
breathtaking, and even at a bitrate of 192kbps, these tracks
have a slight lo-fi sound to them which is something
that I find especially enjoyable!

Sick To The Back Teeth is one of those rare artists who constantly
re-invents himself on each and every sound experiment.
proc-records doesnt here from him often. Nevertheless, when I do, I
can be assured that FULL quality will be found.

proc-records is proud to be your prime source for fucked up sounds,
and when it comes to an artist who can deliver 100% time after
time after time, one needs to look no further than

2009 is finally here, and with it's coming I try to look
for new oppurtunities to progress proc-records
even further into the realm of quality sound distribution.
This , of course, is precisely what you can expect from both
Sascha Mueller and our newest member of the proc-rec
family, eVADE.


Sascha Mueller needs no introduction whatsoever.
He is one of the most active artists on the scene today and
has had countless digital and physical releases
at over a dozen other labels, including several here at
proc-rec!!
Without a doubt, Sascha is one of my all-time favorite artists.
He is capable of producing sounds from nearly every
genre of electronic audio imaginable and does so with the greatest
of ease.
As I mentioned a moment ago, this is also the very first release
here at proc-rec that features the artist eVADE.
eVADE also has a very impressive catalog of releases, many
of which can be found at sascha's labels
(for example, Pharmacom Records and Super 6)
plus some notable output on the glorious 20kbps records.

On this release, we find Sascha and eVADE working
side by side to create some truly splendid audio, all done
live!!
With acoustic improvisation from eVADE joined with
Sascha's own unique electronic audio composing, this
piece demonstrates two brilliant minds at work, doing what
they do best...making some great music!! :D
Also, as if simply having an audio piece wasnt enough,
they were also kind enough to include an audio/visual
version of this piece as well!
The Picture quality is very nice and it really is a nice treat
to see both gentlemen in action.

It is my hope that Sascha will continue to play such a crucial
and active roll here at proc-rec.
However, I also hope that this isn't the last that we
hear from eVADE!!!
The presence of both of them is truly appreciated and strongly felt!

being a both a musician and a label operator, i find it
easier to review someone else's work as opposed to mine.
On the other hand, this is a pretty straight-forward release
and requires little description at all.

A while back, upon hearing a release by Basinski Drone Corps
(aka overthruster) which was based around the concept
of taking a single loop and allowing the listener to
play it for as long as they desire, i became
intrigued by the simplicity of the (probably worn out) concept
and began to work on my own pieces, which i dubbed as the
"Transient" series.

Thus far only 1 of the three has been released, and all of which
will be found at one time or another at the wonderful
abulia concepts netlabel.

To be precise, this is actually Transient IV, though I have decided
to keep this seperate from the others due to its rather uptempo sound.
While it is a rather simple piece, I feel it has an ample
amount of depth and meaning, and it reflects various
aspects and periods of strong emotions.
With the transient releases, I followed a strict set of rules.
They are as follows...
1.the album could not be any larger than two megs.
2. all tracks had to be encoded in .ogg format
and had to have a bitrate of 12kbps,8khz mono.
3.the pieces could not have a begining and end.
(i.e. they must be loopable segments)

for portability reasons, i have encoded this into mp3 format
(which is another reason why I have left this apart from
the transient series.)
i encourage anyone who downloads this to keep it on repeat
for a while and do their best to absorb the track in it's entirety.

having now been placed at the very beginning
of a new year, proc-records has high hopes and aspirations
for the progression of this label, even while we still
remain slightly disabled due to the recent computer failure we
have experienced.

However, in the recent months we have experienced
tremendous growth, and joining us in this growth has
been a very dedicated (i use that word alot, dont I?)
artist who many visitors and listeners have come
to enjoy, known as jjoth.
close to a dozen releases at proc-rec, jjoth has been
an audio visionary whose skills and techniques
have not only impressed many people, it has also
been placed in a catagory seeming to belong exclusively
to him alone!

On each and every releases, jjoth
(who on this album he is known as jj8T7)
takes his work and moves it to the outer extremes of sound.
For example, on this release jjoth uses the
highest attainable bitrate quality for mp3 format, yet it
also happens to be one of his shortest releases here, totaling
a runtime of just under two minutes!
The high bitrate gives the track a clear sound, yet the piece
is cut short.
A strange combination indeed, yet that seems
to be the precise thing that he was trying to accomplish.

to put it simply, jjoth is nothing short of unique and original.
He is welcome to release here as often as he is able, and
I wait with MUCH anticipation for any future oppurtunities to
place his wonderful art, both audio and visual, here at
the best label for advanced ears, proc-records.

it's a short one, but it's full of promise and ranks
rather high on enjoyability ;)

to temporarily become less-active than usual.
however, I wont let something like that slow me down.
As a result, I have had to find other internet connections
to disseminate the work sent to me until I can reconfigure
my machine.
On this new release, proc-rec is putting out some debut (to us, anyway)
material from an artist known to many people as Pollux.

Pollux has apparently been on the music scene
for quite a while. with releases already on a few
other netlabels, he makes his first appearance on proc-records
with this nice little ep, titled Impulse.
This ep, which runs under 15 minutes, covers a multitude
of genres which range from hardcore rave-ish jungle
sounds (Contamination, Zero, Absurd, Volt), ambient textures (Without)
and even some IDM stuff (Drugs)!!
This ep also has high encoding properties (192kbps,MP3),
which seems to have almost become the "Industry Standard" in
many instances.

Pollux's debut release on proc-records has definitely
left a lasting impression.
It is nice to see someone who can be so diverse in sound
and who can accomplish it in such a way that it doesnt
become dull or un-interesting.
Introduction releases are crucial to the proper development
of a fan-base, and with Pollux here at proc-rec, it is
a winning combination :D

Without a doubt, Yoko Absorbing is one of the busiest
sound projects that we have seen here at proc-rec.
many, many quality releases varying in lengths and styles,
featured on a few of our compilations, and still has time to
release on other labels while remaing highly productive
for future releases.
Upon their request, I was asked to postpone the
release of this album until the new year, so I decided
to make it the very first release of 2009!

What can you expect to hear from this album??
Very nice ambient/noise fused with granulated melodic
textures.
The majority of these pieces seem to have at least
some sort of rhythm to them, which works
suprisingly well with the heavy distortion, loud static
and gorgeous melodies that fill your speakers!
Each track is unique from one another and are
easily distinctive from each other.
The title piece, which also happens to be the final piece,
was eloquently produced and has a fantastic sound
and feel to it.
a very calming melody and rhythm section are
spread out over bursts of heavy-noise,
spuraticly placed in various sections of the piece.

The bottom line, this is a release that will not let you down.
