Deep in the heart of the underground, a few handfulls of netlabels
can be found thriving due to the remarkably vibrant
sounds of quality artists, all with one goal and common focus...
to make some great fucking music and not worry about
the commercial aspect of the scene.

On EVERY-SINGLE-RELEASE from Mr.Dee, I have found
a true minimalistic genious hard at work.
His great knack for composing perfectly rhythmic beat sequences
and doing it in such a manner that maintains interest is a highly
commendable feat indeed!
In my own experience, I have found minimal tech-house
rather difficult to effectively produce.
Sometimes my tracks turn out far too long and repetitve
or they may end up too brief and lacking crucial
elements like some strong pads or leads.

Mr.Dee, however, is quite the opposite.
It would seem that he has little trouble whatsoever with
producing great micro-jams (or remixing them, for that matter!!!)
This EP features three pieces (one original track and two remixes).
All three tracks were produced by Mr.Dee, although the third
piece was remixed under his alias of T.P. Indicator.
This ep is nice to listen to when chilling with a fresh cup of coffee
after a long day of work, or just trying to get a party started properly!!

Since the newcommer to Mr.Dee will probably want to hear more
from this truly amazing artist, we recommend downloading
some of his previous releases both here at proc-rec, or even at
countless other netlabels, some of which include
Rus Zud, Reamp3 Underground, Floppy Swap, 20kbps (BIG UP BIG UP!!!)
and LTR, just to name a few!!!

first impressions to people are crucial, and no matter what
you think, you only get ONE chance at a first impression.
With music, however, there are many many exceptions
to that rule, and there are many times when an artist or artists
can revamp their image or style and later become a more dominating
force on the music scene.
Of course, if you happen to get it right the first time....
whats the difference? ;)

Earlier this week, while checking my email (like I do every morning), I
came across an email from a gentleman named João Ricardo who
seemed very interested in having something released on proc-rec.
I followed a link which he inlcuded with his email that allowed me to
hear some of his music.
To say that I was simply "impressed" would be a severe understatement.

The guy's music is remarkably complex on so many
levels, yet it has many basic creative elements found
throughout it's fourty-two minute runtime.
His tracks have a tendency to jump around alot, stylistically,
and just as you may seem to begin to follow one type of
rhythm pattern, he soon switches up the style or texture, taking
you someplace else entirely!

In many ways, his music is quite similar to that of Xenocatz
(a fellow proc-rec artist)
though he also sounds alot like mid or early autechre vs. venetian snares.
These, of course, are just rudimentary refferences and may
not exactly be what you had been thinking of.
In any case, this brilliantly executed ep has strange and wonderful twists
around every corner.
The pieces are very concise, solid, and seem to have been mastered
quite well.
I also noticed that the bass notes seem to be very nicely done.
By that I mean that it does a good job of filling your speakers
with that lovely deep "woom woooooom woom woom woooom" and
isn't so overbearing that it drownes out the other things happening
at that point during the track.


This is Mr. Ricardo's very first release with us, and I certainly
hope that it won't be his last!
Great music like this deserves to be played as
frequently as possible...as loud as possible!!

okay, so now January is coming to a close, and already we have
had a TON of amazing music released here, including
a fucking AMAZING compilation release
with tracks from a bunch of artists scattered allll over this
gigantic planet that we call Earth.

I have very strong feelings about proper
experimentation of audio.
It helps to really try to push the envelope with music
and create something unique.
However, these days (except of course at proc-rec) it can be
very difficult to try to find such original music.
Thankfully, one of our newer members to the
proc-rec family, Toxic Chicken has been kind and generous
enough to consistantly submit amazing music!!

[proc253] is anything BUT normal.
Toxic Chicken's unique production style is quite
unlike anything that I have come across in many years.
In some ways, his music has a classic underground techno sound,
tracing his influences back to the early days of electronica, when
EVERYTHING was experimental.
However, his very forward-thinking production styles
allow him to combine aspects of both "old school" and "new school"
techno, and really produce some wonderful music.
This album is one of particular interest to me.
I feel that it really touches on getting back to some basic elements
of Techno by keeping things simple.
A few vocal samples and other speech elements
are found, while the sound system rumbles with
a perpetually hypnotizing 4/4 drum sequence
and some nice (and again, simple) melodies.
All of those aspects are then given further
flavor with the addition of that lovely lowbit encoding, giving
it an extra nice touch through a low-fidelity sound.

all in all, this is a great ep for virtually ANY party
and also makes a great companion when going on long trips,
walking or nearly anything else.
it would be a shame for you to pass this one up!!!
give it a try!!
it has the proc-records seal of approval....

...which means it's gooooood ;)

2009 is finally here, and the month of January is coming to a
close.
Before I begin these notes, please allow me to give
you folks another reason to celebrate...
Today marks the beginning of a Chinese New Year!!
However, as massive of an event as that is, something even
more profound has happened...
my friends, this album you have just downloaded is the
very first overthruster release at proc-records in 2009!!!
And boy, what a fucking release it is!!!!!

the fucking amazing overthruster has thankfully returned to
proc-rec in an effort to once again properly destroy
audio systems in various time-zones.
Reminiscent of early Venetian Snares (?) material
fused with some amazing underground acid-junglism, Seth
is found in fine-form with this destructively perfect little ep =]
Heavy on the bass, perfectly spread and deeply accurate
(spurratic) percussion, great samples...wait...did I mention
the bass?

This is honestly one of the roughest ep's that proc-rec has ever
had from overthruster, and it make no mistake...it is one of
my personal favorites from him
(it's hard to choose just one, he has so
many great albums!!! i.e. pretty much anything at 20kbps!!!)
Talking about this album does these tracks no justice whatsoever.


Overthruster, you've done it again man...
dont ever fucking stop!

Evgenij V. Kharitonov is WITHOUT A DOUBT the most
active musician here at proc-rec.
He has had a remarkable amount of releases with us, being
featured on compilations and through regular catalg releases
as well!
Never releasing the same-sounding thing twice in a row, Eugenij
takes musical production to whole new heights and completeley different
dimensions, crossing genre's with the greatest of ease and
including nearly all facets of sound and production into his
extremely unique style.

His latest release is nothing short of spectacular.
Using his alias of EugeneKha, Evgenij takes
electric guitar riffs and reversed vocal segments, and combines
them with uptempo rhythm and melodic chordes .
Thus, a brilliant track is born!
Using this method from the first track to the last, he demonstrates
a new direction of electronic sound, one that proc-records
is undeniably pleased to release!!!

For me, Evgenij 's work is very personal.
His melodies really seem to speak to me in a language
that is universal, covering feelings that we all experience as humans.
And, even with his countless releases here with us, not to mention
his many many other releases elsewhere, this is certainly
my personal favorite EP from Mr. Kharitonov .

As we still play [proc250] on repeat for hours and hours,
sometime during that period, it will be of some benifit to
sit back, relax, and indulge ourselves in some truly deep audio,
produced by none other than Evgenij V. Kharitonov!!!

yoyoyoyo!!!
the amazing Pollux has returned to proc-records
with a fantastic little ep of that glorious ambient/drone
electronica!!
Similar in length to his previous release with us, he
has once again given us about fifteen solid minutes of
wonderful textureous melodies that go nicely with
this chilly weather :)

the ep starts off on a rather mellow tone.
Deep layers of electronic strings and chords fill your
speakers (or headphones) with supple
melodies and other calming elements.
actually...the whole EP is like that!
It is quite rare for us to recieve an entire ep
full of ambient tracks, so to have something like this to
release is definitely something I am happy about :D

Each and every piece is unique, and while the album
flows nicely from one track to the next, each piece is strong
and solid enough to where it doesnt rely on the previous or
the next track for support, meaning that
while each piece plays a crucial role in the progression
of the album, these tracks are so unique and
diverse that they aren't as dependent on one another to
obtain the "full effect" of this album.
All the tracks are great, but my personal favorite pieces happen to be
Givre (Mechanical Heart Version) and Without (Dead Orchid Version).
These two pieces in particular really gave me a tremendous
amount of aural satisfaction!! :D

All in all, this is an excellent ep, and it only strengthens my
appreciation and respect for Pollux.
He is a rather new artist to the underground producer scene, and
he is showing an amazing amount of potential.
I believe it goes without saying that he always
has a place here at proc-records!!!

Ladies and Gentlemen, stop whatever you are doing.
It is time to take a break and relax to the soothing sounds of...
